I want to be a puppet!
Pulled and manipulated to move and say whatever the puppeteer says.
I know this may sound like an odd request.
I know this may cause you some alarm.
Allow me for one moment to unravel my thought.
I want to be a puppet!
Connected to strings and a cross-brace.
The strings pull my hands and my feet.
They cause me to move and dance,
Jump and sit,
Wiggle and jiggle.
I want to be a puppet!
Connected and controlled.
OH MY! What a request!
You must think I’ve gone mad,
Lost myself…
(Myself? What does that even mean?)
…I disagree!
I want to be a puppet!
Connected to the puppet master.
The one who holds the cross-brace.
Manipulating my movements to and fro,
Using me to bring joy to others
As I dance, sing, jump and sit.
I want to be a puppet!
You see a puppet or a marionette must be connected to strings.
Those strings must be connected to the cross-brace
That is held by the puppeteer, the puppet master.
This individual will move me along a stage,
Controlling my movements and speaking through me.
You see, when we are connected to the Holy Spirit (the strings), just like the puppet
We can be used to speak, to dance, to bring joy.
We can jump and sit and sing.
When we are connected to the cross-brace
That is strategically holding all the strings in place,
We become useable to bring others joy (happiness, laughter).
Being connected to the puppeteer (Jesus) we find ourselves. Yes I know, we have free will, and that’s great and all. But what good is free will if we keep choosing to be away from the one we love?
What good does free will do, when free will, because of our innate ability to sin against God, always causes us to turn away?
I would rather be a puppet connected to strings, attached to the cross-brace, controlled by the puppeteer and being used to bless others.
I know I just made you quite uncomfortable, but bear with me just a tad longer.
In scripture, we find verses that consist of being used by God. So the idea of being a puppet is just a mere play on words.
A poem so to speak, to express my desire to be “used by God”.
I want to be so connected to God that He can use me to accomplish whatever He wills, without a fight, without a struggle, without hesitation.
I want to be used to bring joy, peace and healing to the lost.
I’m either going to be used by God or manipulated by the devil. I’d rather the former. How about you?
Food for thought:
Ephesians 2:10 AMP states: “For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].”
Galatians 2:20 ESV “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Philippians 2:13 ESV “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
Matthew 6:24 ESV “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money”
